Norditropin NordiFlex contains a biosynthetic version of human growth hormone known as Somatropin, which is the same as the growth hormone naturally produced by the body. This hormone is crucial for children as it supports their growth, but it is also important for the overall health of adults.
Norditropin NordiFlex is utilized to address growth failure in children: if they have little or no production of growth hormone (growth hormone deficiency); if they have Turner syndrome (a genetic condition that may affect growth); if they have impaired kidney function; if they are short and were born small for their gestational age (SGA); or if they have Noonan syndrome (a genetic condition that may impact growth).
In adults, Norditropin NordiFlex serves to replace growth hormone if their production has diminished since childhood or has been lost in adulthood due to a tumor, tumor treatment, or a disease affecting the growth hormone-producing gland. Those who were treated for growth hormone deficiency as children will be re-evaluated after growth has completed. If growth hormone deficiency is reaffirmed, treatment should continue.
Do not use Norditropin NordiFlex: if you are allergic to Somatropin, phenol, or any of the other components of Norditropin NordiFlex; if you have undergone a kidney transplant; if you have an active tumor (cancer). Tumors must be inactive and antitumor treatment must be completed before starting treatment with Norditropin NordiFlex; if you are experiencing an acute critical illness such as open heart surgery, abdominal surgery, multiple trauma, or acute respiratory failure; or if you have completed growth (closed epiphyses) without a growth hormone deficiency.
Like all medications, Norditropin NordiFlex may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them.
Adverse effects observed in both children and adults (unknown frequency) include: rash; wheezing; swollen eyelids, face, or lips; and complete collapse. These may indicate an allergic reaction. Other potential side effects include headache, vision issues, nausea, and vomiting, which may signify increased pressure in the brain. Serum thy
